Although the collapse of FTX’s empire didn’t directly impact TribeWars’s financial situation (as we never held any funds on the exchange), it sent shockwaves throughout the market and will change the crypto landscape for years to come. As we, and other companies, deal with these ripple effects, we think there is no time like a bear market to focus on building, which is exactly what we have been doing! November was filled with monumental milestones in growth and development, so let’s take a look at what’s happened, and what’s to come!</p>
<h3>Breakpoint/W3Egaming</h3>
<p>Our participation in Solana Breakpoint and W3EGaming were our most proud moments of 2022, as we had the opportunity to display what we have been building for over a year!</p>
<p>We began Breakpoint at Hacker House, where Danny, Head of Development at TribeWars, showed off some skills while finishing the build for Games Day! He also had the opportunity to take the main stage and show the crowd a taste of TribeWars on the big screen!</p>

This was our chance to meet the gaming community and showcase all of our latest development progress!</p>
<p>We set up our booth and welcomed every player that passed by. The turnout was incredible — hundreds of people came by to chat, play games, and compete for the $69 prize. We were thrilled to receive such positive feedback from all players… even the ones that didn’t end up winning a prize! It was clear that we made a lasting impression on the Solana gaming community, which was our main goal.</p>

<p>Two weeks after Breakpoint, the team headed to Istanbul to take part in the W3Egaming event! We ran a thrilling tournament for a PS5, which led dozens of participants to compete for over 6 hours! Not only did the team have a blast showing off TribeWars, but the positive feedback from the guests and players made it that much more rewarding!​​</p>

<h4>Programming</h4>
<p>By allowing many people to play and test the game at these events, we were able to gather a significant amount of feedback. This allowed us to develop numerous bug reports to fix various balancing mechanics to improve the game.</p>

<p>Most of you have seen clips of the new animations being created to give life to our Cavemen. Unlike previous updates where we were focusing on attacks and battle moves, we have been focusing on crowd animations like idle poses, cheers, taunts, etc. We’ve also added some immersive animations for Cavemen inside the arena like the “death” animation.</p>

<h4>UI/UX</h4>
<p>The user interface and experience of TribeWars has been steadily improving, with each 3D armor set and item being turned into a 2D asset for the inventory. One of the largest improvements is the addition of icons for skills and actions, making it even easier for players to access and use them within the game. These changes have greatly enhanced the overall gameplay experience and we will continue to make improvements in the future. Check them out below!</p>

<p>The bread and butter of our project has always been the incredible work from the 3D Art Team. For the past month, they have been tackling a new challenge that goes beyond their usual creation of sets and weapons.</p>
<p>While it’s still too early to share the details of what they’ve been working on, we can say that it’s going to be a game-changer. Stay tuned, because this is one project that you won’t want to miss.</p>
<p>Despite the added workload, the team hasn’t skipped a beat when it comes to creating incredible game assets. Over the past month, they have been focusing on weapons, which we have been teasing a bit on our <a href="https://x.com/TribeWars_SOL/status/1594417345694470144">Twitter page</a>. Here are a few more examples of the stunning weapons they have been crafting!</p>

We can’t wait for you all to see them in action inside the arena! The team is constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with their art, and the results are truly breathtaking. Keep an eye on our social media channels for updates on their progress.</p>
<h3>Partnerships</h3>
<p>At the Breakpoint event, our team was able to make incredible connections and establish communication with many promising partners. These partnerships will be crucial in helping us achieve the goals we have set for the game and for the NFT.</p>

<h3>The Search</h3>

We made a minor announcement about it last week and, as always, Danny shared some exciting updates about its development in the chat.</p>
<p>Here is the info shared:</p>
<blockquote>“We had to put the search in the back burner like explained on the last medium as we had a very important month in November with Breakpoint and W3Egaming.</blockquote>
<blockquote>Once back from the events our devs started working again on the search, we now have a few hiccups with the on-chain rust code that interfaces with another protocol, but our junior dev gained access to their reference repo and we can work more freely now without being so stuck waiting on their feedback and Danny’s intervention.</blockquote>
<blockquote>Why no drop rates? They are not in the code yet, so they are not going to be shared without being final.</blockquote>
<blockquote>Why no IRL prizes list? We want to make sure we have the prizes bought or at least reserved before we have an issue and can’t have them out. If we have a last-minute issue and we already communicated the rewards, a false promise its worse coms than not sharing it soon enough.</blockquote>
<blockquote><strong>EVERYTHING WILL BE SHARED BEFORE THE UPDATES GO LIVE”</strong></blockquote>
<p>Since then, Danny and Gabriel, our junior dev, finished the smart contract for the Upgrade process and are now finishing the frontend part of the website.</p>
<p>We will also be running some contests and polls on the official TribeWars Twitter about various prize options, letting the community choose some of the exciting rewards.</p>

TribeWars Project Update #7

In order to have TribeWars ready for Solana Breakpoint, we needed to have a demo prepared for October 17, 2022. So, for the past two weeks, the team has been working incredible hours to finish months-worth of challenging development to deliver our product in time, and the progress has been monumental.</p>
<p>The internal testing of TribeWars has truly begun! With much of the team continuing to work on development, many team members have started playing against each other on our servers, in search of finding and fixing bugs, and to let of some Cavemen steam! Let’s do a deeper dive into everything that has been accomplished, and how everything has been shaping up!</p>
<h3>Visual Effects (VFX)</h3>

With dozens of planned effects for each player’s ability, our talented artists and coders have been prioritizing the creation of these in-battle effects lately. Seen above is a work-in-progress of the “Second Chance” and “Stun” abilities, which will, as the titles suggest, provide an additional chance to strike and a stun effect onto opponents!</p>

First, our coding and effects team must first find proper references. Then, they sketch the unique effect and create what we call an “asset plan”, which lays out exactly how the effect will function inside TribeWars. Following this, they begin coding the effect, and then they move to finalizing the visuals. It’s because of lengthy processes like these that we are confident in TribeWars being truly unique in the gaming ecosystem.</p>
<h3>Animations</h3>

In addition to the infamous “belly jiggle”, Cavemen can now perform many battles moves like the “Two-Hand Swing Attack” and “Victory” effect! These animations, accompanied by the beautiful visual effects we’re making, will add much-needed life to the TribeWars arena and make the battles even more thrilling!</p>

Not only have we continued to add in-game prompts and descriptions for each ability, but we have also been testing various button shapes, colors, and styles. Below are some of the potential options for the attack buttons! Although playable on PC, our focus on mobile-gaming is forcing us to build a mobile-friendly interface that isn’t too crowded with confusing content. This is why the UI team has spent many months perfecting it!</p>

We will soon be announcing where you will be able to find us and how you can compete in your first TribeWars battle, but for now, just know that if you attend, there’s a good chance you’ll be meeting the team and testing out the game! Stay tuned for additional information!</p>
<h3>Demo Testing (Internal)</h3>

However, the progress over the past few weeks/months has been astounding. As stated by team member <em>Pit Princess</em> in our Discord, “Game Development progress is exponential. Most stuff only really comes together closer towards the end.” We are at the point that our 12+ months of development is finally coming together, as many of you can tell by all of these exciting visuals!</p>
<p>Finally, we’d like to apologize for many of the recent delays in production and releases. On top of the traditional challenges with running a 25+ person international team, we’ve been dealing with many internal issues pertaining to the Russia/Ukraine War that forced many team members to relocate and find alternative accommodations. Although we are mostly back at full force now, we continue to feel the effects of global economic and political changes and are constantly supporting team members around the world.</p>

TribeWars Testing Begins!

In just two minutes, 8,888 Cavemen were minted and became a staple for thousands of Solana NFT Collectors around the globe. Although they have now taken on a new life as the main character’s of <a href="http://tribewars.com/">tribewars</a>, we’d like to journey through the past year of progress and explore how far we have truly come!</p>
<h3>The Crypto Cavemen Club</h3>

<p>After the original idea for Cavemen was thought up in June of 2021, Art Director Gaarzen and his small team of helpers began testing various Cavemen models. They played around with characteristics like hairiness, nose size, shoulder width, mouth shape, eyebrow type, and ear length to find the perfect mascot for the Cavemen Club. For example, the model to the left, shown below, was one of the finalists discussed internally by the team. The decision was tough, but we’re confident we made the right one!</p>

<p>During this stage of the Solana Ecosystem, there were very few NFTs in existence. In fact, we were one of the first projects to use <a href="https://docs.metaplex.com/programs/candy-machine/">Metaplex’s Candy Machine</a>, which now stands as the premier way to launch a collection. With a completely unique and in-house built website, minting portal, and rarity encyclopedia, we launched the collection. As you all know, it was a smashing success, except for one problem… the Cavemen didn’t arrive! For those who were with us a year ago, you may remember the “spinning circle” phenomenon, which occurred due to a faulty piece of code in our metadata. Although swiftly solved by our Head Developer Danny, known formerly as OogaMan, it was a frightening time for 3,000+ new Cavemen owners. Looking back, it brought our community closer together, cementing friendships that remain strong even today!</p>

<p>After a stressful mint process, we knew we wanted to reward all of our new holders with something Cavemen could utilize in the future. We started by dropping weapons, including axes, rocks, bones, and clubs, and followed up with a potion drop just a few weeks later! Not only was this one of the first free airdrops in Solana history, but our drops remain a valuable part of the Cavemen ecosystem over a year later! It was after these drops, and weeks of deliberation by the team, that we decided <strong>TribeWars was the future for Cavemen.</strong></p>

<p>Knowing that the Cavemen would not be able to survive without a working in-game currency and economic system, we created the CAVE Coin and dropped 211 coins to every NFT holder! This drop allocated over 2,500,000 coins to holders, which now represents 2.5% of the total supply to ever exist! As many of you know, after introducing CAVE to various trading platforms and liquidity pools, speculation ran rampant and pumped the price above $10. Add NFT integration and financial reward systems and you’ve got yourself a mere impossible task. This is, perhaps, why many other projects have taken shortcuts in various areas like asset creation, or have introduced unsustainable reward distributions. We knew we wanted to build something unique, long-lasting, and impossible to replicate. Hiring out the proper team, as we’ve discussed previously, took months. Then, once our team of (now 25+) artists, developers, and managers was complete, the race to the finish line began.</p>

1 Year of Building: A Recap

<p>Welcome to the fifth, of many, TribeWars development updates! As we approach the one-year anniversary of minting our beloved Cavemen, we feel honored to have so many of you continuing to follow TribeWars’s progress. We continue to be stunned by, and thankful for, your patience during development. The (still growing) team at TribeWars has not wavered in its commitment to building the most disruptive mobile game in history, and we cannot wait for you all to get your hands on it. <h3>Art &amp; Design</h3>
<h4>Environment (yep, it’s finally done)</h4>
<p>As discussed in previous updates and announcements, the TribeWars environment and arena is completely finished. Every asset was modeled and textured, from start to finish, by our in-house team. Although building everything from scratch takes a significant amount of time, the uniqueness and quality we’ve been able to achieve sets us apart from most other projects. With the completion of this massive undertaking, our 3D artists have moved their focus to our items and weapons for the game.</p>

<p>We cannot write a TribeWars update without showing you all some of the new armors being worked on! If you’ve seen the dozens of posts by Art Director, Gaarzen, in our Discord, you’d realize that we’re now approaching an astounding 15 armor sets. In fact, we finally have enough armors to pull even more of our team away to build other in-game items, like weapons, traps, and more. What do you think the names of these two armor sets will be?</p>

<p>Although you all have seen us create a variety of melee weapons, such as maces, spears, knives, and swords, we haven’t spent much time developing our arsenal of ranged weapons, until now. We’ve started with the Bow &amp; Arrows, and will continue with other throwable objects!</p>

<p>The most exciting update comes from the animation and VFX side of the team! That’s right, after designing, modeling, texturing, and weighting dozens and dozens of assets for the past year, they are finally being brought to life in a BIG way! We started off with simple striking animations and have moved on to creating more advanced moves for TribeWars players to perform during battle. For example, <strong>for each weapon type, there are movement variations that changes how the caveman stands, moves around, and attacks. </strong>Not to mention, there are other complicated animations relating to the casting of spells, which we have started to <a href="https://x.com/TribeWars_SOL/status/1557384401469800455?s=20&amp;t=6PzYcoFLSvdLdZsmRikD9A">tease on our Twitter!</a> As the in-house animation team works through the lengthy list of animations, you all will start to see just how athletic the Cavemen are!</p>

For instance, <strong>perfecting the beer stomach for the Cavemen, ensuring their eyes blink ~12 times a minute like real humans, and mastering the multi-layer animation system.</strong></p>

<h3><strong>TribeWars Server &amp; Technical Progress</strong></h3>
<h4>Server Update</h4>
<p>The past few weeks have been especially difficult due to the need to hire out a new crew to develop the TribeWars server. This is the backend bones of the game ecosystem and, on top of being insanely complicated, must be built to perfection. Danny and Sergey reviewed <strong>hundreds</strong> of CV’s and Resumes, and conducted dozens of interviews, to find someone who would make us proud. With the release of this article, we are thrilled to welcome a new member to the team.</p>
<h4><strong>Interface Design</strong></h4>
<p>With the backend team taken care of, our front-end team has been crushing it on the development of the User Interface. This is a crucial piece of mobile gaming because every aspect of TribeWars must be properly represented and understandable. We’ve made tremendous progress, but have no drafts that we feel comfortable releasing to the public… yet.</p>
<p>The game mechanics crew has also continued polishing all aspects of the game. For instance, they created standalone weapons, finalized the set bonuses for item sets, finalized ability mechanics and tiers, and finalized Caveman NFT ability tree bonuses (huge deal). Although seemingly simple when written in a short sentence or two, these completions mark massive milestones in production.</p>

<p>Welcome to the fourth, of many, TribeWars development updates! As our game comes closer and closer to release, things are truly shaping up and looking awesome. Although the crypto market isn’t what we all hoped it would be at this point, we know that gamers (and you all) will love what we’re creating. Let’s jump into it!</p>
<h3>New Team Members!</h3>
<p>As many of you know, we have continued to hire additional artists and developers as TribeWars has progressed. Our team is OVER 20 strong and we’ve even ramped up hiring during this market! We’re excited to announce that in the past few weeks we brought on a Server Developer for Unreal Engine and an additional UI Illustration Artist! New UI assets are being made and finished everyday now, so we’ll be sharing lots of new art as the weeks progress! You can see some sneak peeks a bit further down in this update.</p>
<h3>Weapon Updates</h3>
<p>Most of our awesome <a href="https://discord.gg/tribewars"><strong>Discord members</strong></a> have seen new assets as they morph from works-in-progress to finished pieces! Lately, the 3D Modeling Team has ramped up production and are killing it with weapons like the Furry Dagger, Iron Sword, Megalodon Tooth Spear, Turtle Mace, Crab Claw, and more. Remember, each of these assets goes through dozens of iterations prior to being finalized and given the “ok” by Art Director Gaarzen! We can’t wait to show you all even more weapons later on!</p>

<p>If you recall, we’ve previously mentioned how we must create scalable 2D versions of every single 3D item in TribeWars. This will be used to represent your items in locations like player inventories! Since our last update, the team (which has added a new hire) has mastered the art of mass production for these assets. We now have dozens of beautiful and detailed versions of our (already beautiful and detailed) in-game assets, and have many more in the works!</p>

<p>Our arena gets more and more beautiful as we progress through development! From a simple model to a fully textured environment, it’s come a long way! The most recent updates come in the form of ground texturing and the creation of tons of small assets to fill the cave! These additional wood bridges, stones, torches, and other small items make this place feel real and immersive, and will give all of our players the true feeling of fighting as a neanderthal, thousands of years ago!</p>

These creative obstacles will help do things like slow down your opponents and create barriers during battle. <p>Perhaps one of the coolest developments has come from the animations and weighting of our in-game items. As you have seen this past week on Twitter, our armors are beginning to fit on our caveman in a way like never before! This process, completed by our beloved artist Sayyfan, means that assets will now fit our custom Caveman Animation Rig and move during battle without overlapping the various textures.</p>

<p>While finalizing our categorization of weapons and their design, we are also developing new mechanics. Our newest, and most exciting, one to announce is the addition of <strong><em>Dual Wielding!</em></strong> This mechanic is quite self explanatory, but will allow players to wield two weapons simultaneously!</p>

<p>Firstly, all weapons have two primary stats: <em>damage</em> and <em>attack</em> <em>speed, </em>and other secondary stats like <em>accuracy</em>, <em>piercing</em>, <em>blocking</em>, and more.</p>
<h4>Equipping</h4>
<p>There are three options for equipping your hands with weapons and items for battle:</p>
<p><strong>Option 1) One 1-handed weapon and one shield.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Option 2) One</strong> <strong>2-handed weapon </strong>(occupies both hands, so you cannot equip a shield).</p>
<p><strong>Option 3) Dual wielding: Two 1-handed weapons, same or different </strong>(occupies both hands, so you cannot equip a shield).</p>
<p>Note: Melee weapons can be equipped by <strong>all classes</strong>, whilst Ranged weapons can only be equipped by the Ranger class. <h4>Damage</h4>
<p>Cavemen gain additional damage stats by equipping weapons. Damage is the basic stat for every weapon and is added to the base damage of your character. 1-handed weapons give less damage in comparison to 2-handed weapons of the same rarity. If you are dual wielding 1-handed weapons, you will get the damage added up from both weapons!</p>
<h4>Attack Speed</h4>
<p>Weapons have SIX different attack speeds: <em>very slow</em>, <em>slow</em>, <em>normal</em>, <em>fast</em>, v<em>ery fast</em>, and <em>OOGA FAST</em>). A weapon’s attack speed changes the attack speed of the character and may influence things like whether a player goes first or last once the match starts or and the chance of attacking a second time. When Dual wielding, you might even get to attack four times!</p>
<h4>Weapon Effects</h4>
<p>Weapons can also have 0, 1, or 2 effects, which are things like <em>piercing, accuracy, critical, stun, bleed, and poison. </em>Do not be fooled, however, because having more or less of any given effect (or stat) doesn’t mean much by itself. For instance, the Giant Stone Axe is a 2-handed weapon that has high damage and two effects (<strong>critical</strong>, and <strong>break block</strong>) but is very slow and defenseless. This is compared to a knife and a shield with the <em>block </em>effect, or double dual wielding knives, which gets stats from both weapons being used! Effects are incredibly useful in creating unique fighters and will further your need to strategize against all types of players.</p>
<h4>Minting</h4>
<p>During a weapon’s minting it’s given random stat and effect numbers within a given range. This range can be effected by which type or rank a weapon is. However, all values have the same chance of appearing on a minted weapon, so the randomization is truly real! It’s worth noting, as well, that <strong>minted attributes stay fixed on the NFT of the weapon</strong>.</p>

<p>Welcome to the third, of many, TribeWars development updates! Over the past month, since our <a href="https://medium.com/p/ba5d0f8b2a99">last development deep dive</a>, we have begun the process of migrating all of our development milestones into our game engine. In this update, we seek to provide further information about various new features we plan on bringing to TribeWars and give you all insights on the progress we’ve made! Let’s begin!</p>
<h3><strong>Mechanics &amp; Game Design:</strong></h3>
<h4><strong>Resources Introduction</strong></h4>
<p>We have officially established an entire economy surrounding our <strong>resources. </strong>These resources, which can be gained from explorations and disassembling items, will be useful for crafting and repairing items in TribeWars. At this stage, we have created <strong>3</strong> <strong>different tiers of resources (Basic, Advanced, </strong>and <strong>Master)</strong>, defined their values, and finalized a system for crafting higher-tier resources by “spending” lower-tier ones. Additionally, there is a trading system built-in for swapping same-tier resources for another. This will be possible by paying a small “tax”. Below is one section of our much larger resources map. As you can see, each resource is useful in obtaining certain other items that can then be used to repair or crafting! Let’s dive in deeper.</p>

<p><strong>Crafting Mechanics</strong>: There will be<strong> 2 ways to craft items. </strong>The first way is done by trading 3 lower-tiered items for 1 higher-tiered item. The second way is by spending resources to fulfilling certain item recipes. This will give players multiple ways and strategies for acquiring the exact items they want, without relying completely on in-game drops.</p>
<p><strong>Repair Mechanics:</strong> The more an item is used in battle, the more the values of its stats decrease. Because of this, players will need to repair their items from time to time to avoid losing them all together. The system of repairing items<em> </em>revolve around using resources that the items are made from to bring the item back to peak condition.</p>
<p><strong>Leveling Up</strong>: Items can be leveled up by spending more resources. A leveled-up item will have improved looks and stats, but will keep its original values for disassembly or trading.</p>
<p><strong>Minting New Items</strong>: When minting an item in TribeWars, each one will have randomized unique stats and effects that differentiate them from other identical items.</p>
<h3><strong>Arena &amp; Environment Design:</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Grid Design:</strong> Although discussed in previous updates, the battle grid has undergone some minor updates. Most importantly, we’ve rearranged the grid so that Cavemen can travel in straight lines towards their enemies without having to zig-zag to them. The size of the grid has now been expanded to a total size of 12 by 7. Battle moves can more easily be done with this new grid design.</p>

This means we can now create assets that fit the exact lighting and style we are aiming for. Over the past few weeks, dozens of assets have been popping up around the various zones in the arena. Below is a great example of one of the sections of our arena. Each item in this corner was uniquely modeled, textured, and colored to fit within the scene. <p><strong>New Textures &amp; Rigging: </strong>Believe it or not, creating a video game character is not as easy as simply creating the 3D Caveman model! Every part of the body has to be perfectly rigged to wear our armors and apparel, and every part of the body needs to be able to move fluidly around the arena. We have hired the creators of our incredible <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqBwmTAkXlQ&amp;ab_channel=tribewars-Play-to-EarnBattleGame">teaser trailer</a>, <a href="https://www.funkeyzanimation.com/">Funkeyz Animation</a>, to complete our rigs and animate each unique animation in the arena. Over the next few weeks, expect to see some epic IN-GAME animations start popping up.</p>
<p><strong>Special Effects: </strong>Our Technical Artist has also been producing some incredible special effects for a few of our props such as Shielding, Cloaking, Poison, and Lava. Check out some of of the works-in-progress below!</p>

One of our favorite upcoming sets is the <strong>Bear Set</strong>! As you can see, each piece of the armor, including the shield, is filled with an incredible amount of detail. It’s almost unfathomable! We cannot wait to see this set being worn in the arena!</p>

<p>At the moment, our UX engineer is working on creating a unified mobile and desktop marketplace experience for the dozens of items and armors that are, and will become, a part of TribeWars in the future! Although this is a huge undertaking, we’re confident it will be ready in time for game release! Additionally, our UI designer has started work on the design of the dozens of 2D assets that will occupy player inventories inside the game. It’s taken us numerous attempts to determine the ideal layout and orientation of our icons, but we’ve just about finished! Below are examples of our damage potion and axe!</p>

<p>Perhaps the most exciting update of them all is that the team is coordinating and negotiating some <strong>major partner projects</strong> for game launch. We didn’t anticipate launching with partners right off the bat, and we still aren’t sure which phase the partner program will release, but we are confident closing a deal with one or two major projects in Solana will expand our reach to tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of additional community members. Although some of our potential projects don’t have pre-made 3D assets, we will be aiding in building the art teams to create the required 3D models, armors, and weapons. We want the TribeWars quality to permeate into every piece of the game, partnership art included. A partnership with TribeWars is so much more than simple access to the ecosystem, it’s a full-on integration!</p>
<p>Also, since our last update, we were proud to be one of the many launch partners for Opensea’s Solana Event! We are excited to see what the ecosystem continues to build and are always searching for additional ways to expose TribeWars to the world.</p>

<h3>Utility &amp; Use Case</h3>

<p>Perhaps the most exciting utility for $STONE comes with crafting. As players get dropped weapons during gameplay, for example, they will have the option to combine select weapons and craft them into a weapon of higher rarity. However, players will <strong>also have to burn $STONE each time they craft. </strong>The more rare of a weapon that they are trying to craft, the more $STONE they will have to give up! This is explained with a more detail in the original whitepaper, viewable <a href="https://www.notion.so/cryptocavemen/Cave-Coin-08db902ae3cd42aa9eadfb60c09978a6">here</a>! It’s worth noting that any burned coins will be recycled into our instant-sell marketplace, where players can immediately sell their items for a discounted set value, if desired.</p>
<h4>In-Game Marketplace Transactions</h4>
<p>Next, within TribeWars, every armor, weapon, and item purchase/sale will be denominated in $STONE. If players don’t have enough $STONE to make a transaction, or would like to exchange other tokens for it, they will be able to easily access their wallets and exchanges to make that happen. Although in-game transactions will not affect external markets for $STONE, the unwavering necessity for players to use and spend it will provide substantial levels of liquidity on the exchanges it trades on.</p>
<h4>Chestboxes &amp; Rewards</h4>
<p>Another exciting utility comes from Chestboxes. These boxes will be filled with exciting Cavemen goodies that could span from item accessories (like dyes or upgrades) to special effects that can be used in battle. Likely a seasonal program, these Chestboxes will be purchasable exclusively $STONE, which means if players don’t want to miss out on exciting items, they’ll need to have earned or purchased plenty of coins! One way players will be able to earn coins will be through <strong>rewards</strong>, which, as described in our earlier articles, come from selling items earned during gameplay.</p>
<h4>Cavemen Marketplace</h4>
<p>Finally, in tandem with our in-game marketplace, <a href="https://magiceden.io/marketplace/crypto_cavemen_club">Crypto Cavemen NFTs</a> will eventually be available for $STONE, which will ultimately allow all of the entire TribeWars Economy to work as one.</p>

Cave Coin: The Currency of TribeWars

<p>Welcome to the second, of many, TribeWars development updates! Over the past two months, since our last development deep dive, we have made an incredible amount of progress on the art, design, and development side of TribeWars. Although we will not spoil many of the exciting things we have coming, we hope this update provides some much-needed insights on what we’ve been working on! Let’s begin.</p>
<h3>Environment/Arena Design</h3>
<p>For the initial release of TribeWars, we will launch with <strong>one main arena.</strong> This arena will have multiple lighting modes, allowing for seamless transitions from day to night, and will have many different areas for Cavemen to congregate. At this point, the arena is undergoing modeling and texturing by a <strong>three-person</strong> <strong>design team</strong>, dedicated full-time to turning this arena into a masterpiece. The photos below show the basic design and layout of our arena, but remain entirely untextured and uncolored. If you’re impressed with these, we cannot wait for you to see the final product. It will be magical!</p>

For instance, every wooden box, barrel, hanging piece of mammoth meat, etc. is being built, modeled, textured, and colored. Hopefully this shines some light on why building TribeWars is taking a bit more time than expected. Below is a photo of one of the prehistoric dinosaur fossils that Cavemen collected during their travels. This massive item will lay around the arena, and is incredibly detailed in its design. We cannot wait to see it completed.</p>

<h4>Armors</h4>
<p>As we continue to move forward with finalizing our environment, another group within our 10-person art team has been devoted to building out additional armor sets. Currently, we’ve finished about eight full sets, ranging from the Turtle Set to the Iron Set (viewable now on our <a href="https://x.com/TribeWars_SOL">Twitter!</a>). However, we aim to have <strong>at least</strong> a dozen unique armors for Cavemen to wear in TribeWars’s initial release!</p>
<p>The photos below are some work-in-progress images of one of our favorite new sets:<strong> The Shark Set</strong>! We’ll be releasing the complete version of this set in the next few days, but as you can tell from these renderings, the level of detail is undeniable! As most of you know, our 3D team has worked on projects with Activision, EA, Dreamworks, Netflix, and more, so it shouldn’t be surprising that each of these sets takes <strong>multiple weeks</strong> to fully develop! TribeWars is striving for perfection, and we will stop at nothing to make that happen.</p>

<p>Since airdropping weapons after the mint of our Crypto Cavemen Club NFTs (all the way back in September/October 2021), they took a backseat on our development priority list. We are happy to announce that this is no longer the case, and the team has once again began building the TribeWars arsenal. Two of our newest weapons are the Bow, an uncommon ranged weapon, and the Wooden Sword, a common melee weapon. <em>Remember, the five rarities for weapons, from weakest to strongest, are: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary. </em>Over the next month, we expect numerous new weapons to be released, and we can’t wait to show them being held by our Cavemen in the arena!</p>

<p>Another major development for TribeWars has come from the Unreal Engine and Development teams. Over the past month, they have been working full-time on in-game movements, perfecting the hex grid, lighting, camera angles, UI/UX, and more. One of the most recent development feats has been completing the lighting arrangement inside the arena. As all the battles will take place inside this dark cave, it’s vital for lighting and graphics to be perfect, so all of our beautiful items and armors are viewable and properly lit. Below are some photos of the unfinished hex-grid layouts and designs inside the arena!</p>

<p>In addition to pure mechanics, the team has also been working on balancing dozens of different abilities. We will be writing an in-depth article about all of the Abilities in TribeWars, but for now we will explain a bit about how they work! To put it simply, abilities can either be <strong>passive </strong>or <strong>active,</strong> and will not only be applicable to Cavemen, but Pets and Items too! Let’s take a look at how abilities will affect each category.</p>
<p><strong>Cavemen Abilities</strong>: Each caveman will have a <strong>personal ability tree</strong>, which will allow them access to <strong>four tiers of abilities, </strong>ranging from basic to ultimate ones! As players level up, they will be able to choose which abilities to unlock from the ability pools, which will ensure each player can build their own unique strategy. Most abilities have a unique effect and tend to be more active than passive. Some can be activated only once at the players discretion, but others can be activated multiple times during a battle. Not to mention, some can only be activated when a specific condition is met. <strong>Players will be able to choose which abilities they want to have before each battle</strong>, and when or how to perform those abilities during battle.</p>

This means that players will not need to manage the abilities during the game, but instead can feel confident that their pets are helping them in the best way possible.</p>
<p><strong>Item abilities:</strong> In addition to their main stats, items can also have special abilities. However, similar to how pet abilities work, these abilities will be passive and will not require players to manually activate them during battle.</p>
<p>Overall, the combination of abilities from all of these categories will be able to create some amazing combos and will allow for endless different dynamics within each battle! Here are some examples of abilities from the 4 tiers:</p>
<p>Tier 1 Example: <strong>Beehive — </strong><em>Throw a beehive ticking bomb on a hex within 5 range. It explodes after 2 turns, dealing 70 damage and stun to all targets on the beehive tile and all adjacent tiles.</em></p>
<p>Tier 2 Example: <strong>Spikes — </strong><em>Return 20% damage of total incoming damage when getting hit.</em></p>
<p>Tier 3 Example: <strong>Ring of Fire — </strong><em>Spawn a ring of fire around all the adjacent tile. Deals damage to all characters who are standing on any adjacent tile.</em></p>
<p>Tier 4 Example: <strong>Doom — </strong><em>Tag this effect on an enemy, and they have only four turns before they die. However, you go down to 1 HP. Use this wisely!</em></p>

<h3>Why Chainlink VRF?</h3>
<p>Chainlink is the industry-leading decentralized oracle network specializing in providing off-chain data and computation services to smart contracts.</p>
<p>When it came time to determine how we would run our random number generation for choosing battle opponents, NFT reward distributions, and more, Chainlink VRF was an obvious choice for us. Based on cutting-edge blockchain technology, and supported by time-tested infrastructure, this tamper-proof and auditable on-chain RNG solution will help ensure users remain comfortable with all in-game outcomes.</p>
<h4>How does it work?</h4>
<p>Chainlink VRF works by combining block data, unknown at the time of the request, with the oracle node’s private key, to generate a random number with cryptographic proof. When TribeWars’s smart contract interacts with Chainlink VRF, it will not only ensure that all in-game outcomes use tamper-proof random numbers but will also require verifiable proof. <h3>Game Access</h3>

<p>After creating a free profile, players can log into TribeWars and battle others around the globe. Although incredibly fun and entertaining, this mode does not include most aspects of the Play-to-Earn model, and will not provide rewards tied to the real in-game economy.</p>
<h4>Play-to-Earn Pass</h4>
<p>Players who have a profile can unlock the play-to-earn mode by paying for a <strong>game pass</strong>. This will not be an NFT, and will not provide as many benefits as those who utilize NFTs for their profiles, but will give players access to some of the play-to-earn benefits.</p>
<h4>Partner NFT Holder</h4>
<p>As an owner of one of our many NFT partner projects <em>(to be announced)</em>, players in this mode can live out their play-to-earn dreams and battle for many of the rewards that TribeWars has to offer.</p>
<h4>Crypto Cavemen NFT Holder</h4>
<p>The most prestigious mode, available only to Caveman holders, provides all of the above incentives, but <strong>also </strong>gives the option for players to form a “team” of other friends/players, where Cavemen can collect rewards based off the success and devotion of others. Not to mention, the more special, and higher ranked, your Caveman, the more rewards they will be able to earn!</p>
<h3>Game Elements</h3>
<h4>What is a Caveman?</h4>
<p>Born thousands of years ago, and brought back to life in September 2021, the Crypto Cavemen Club consists of 8,888 unique Solana NFTs. Although not required for basic game-play, owning a Caveman is your ticket to receiving all the rewards and benefits inside TribeWars.</p>

<p>As the most prehistoric currency on earth, Cavemen use $STONE coins for every transaction inside TribeWars. Whether you’re buying or selling a rare item, purchasing a chest-box, crafting a legendary weapon, or simply looking to benefit from the growth of TribeWars, $STONE is the solution.</p>
<h4><strong>What is Experience (XP)?</strong></h4>
<p>Earned during battle and training, XP builds up to level-up a Caveman. The higher the level a player is, the more XP it takes to move to the next level. For example, you must earn 50 XP to become a level 1 fighter, but must earn 1500 XP to advance from level 29 to 30. Although a challenging feat to make it to the top, fighters with the best strategies and items will have no problem at all!</p>
<h4>What are Ability Points?</h4>
<p><em>Ability points </em>are given to players when they level-up. These points can be spent on the <strong>Ability Tree, </strong>which contains unique muscles, brains, and moves skills for players to enhance their gameplay. Each caveman has an ability tree for each type, based on their class. For example, a player leveling up from level 5 to level 6 will receive 1 ability point. This point can be used to upgrade or <strong>unlock</strong> a brand new ability, like the “Headshot”!</p>
<h4>What are Consumables?</h4>
<p><em>Consumables</em>, like potions, are <strong>single-use</strong> items that are utilized by Cavemen before a battle. These unique power-ups provide increased abilities, bonuses, or buffs. For example, attack speed, healing, damage, and defense, can all be increased or decreased with various consumables! But, be mindful, because each one has a different duration, depending on its rarity!</p>
<h4>What are Weapons?</h4>
<p><em>Weapons </em>can be equipped by Cavemen for use during battle. Ranged weapons, like slingshots and bows, allow you to do damage while keeping your distance, and melee weapons, like spears and swords, put your Caveman in the center of combat. Each weapon’s rarity [common, uncommon, rare, epic, legendary] decides how strong and what effect they have on your opponent. If players want to upgrade their existing weapons, they must craft by combining multiple weapons <strong>and</strong> CAVE coins. Crafting, purchasing, and drops during the game are the main ways to obtain weapons!</p>
<h4>What are Items?</h4>
<p><em>Items</em> include body armors, helmets, footwear, and shields. On top of having various rarities and effects, each individual item is part of an <strong>Item Set</strong>, which contains four different items [helmet, shield, armor, footwear] of the same material. Unlike weapons, players will never start playing TribeWars with armor and instead must build their skills to acquire the most prestigious of sets. Lastly, if a caveman manages to equip a complete set, they receive an armor bonus as well!</p>

<p>The core game revolves around a PVP <em>(player-versus-player) </em>battle inside an epic Caveman arena. In this main mode, called “Arena Battles”, Cavemen challenge each other to solve their differences and fight one on one, in front of the whole TribeWars community, and the king himself!</p>
<p>Other modes will be available as well, such as wager battles, exploration, and events. However, these modes will come after the initial release of TribeWars.</p>
<h4><strong>Tribes</strong></h4>
<p><strong>In order to play the game</strong>, profiles that do <strong>NOT</strong> own a Crypto Cavemen, and have instead acquired a Game Pass or partner NFT, will have to join a tribe. These tribes can only be created by Cavemen NFT holders, also referred to as <strong>chiefs</strong>. There will be <strong>rewards</strong> distributed to tribes, depending on their activity and win rates, as well as their rank amongst other tribes. Additionally, the chief will be able to decide how the rewards get split among all members, and depending on a tribe chief’s ranking and strength, members will also receive small benefits/bonuses from them.</p>
<h3>The Battle Arena</h3>
<p>The Arena is the ultimate battleground where Cavemen will battle! It is the old-fashioned way for cavemen to solve their differences, and we are bringing it to the metaverse! For Play-to-Earn profiles, each Caveman can challenge other Cavemen 3 times per day, and can be challenged another 3 times.</p>
<p><strong>Matching</strong>: Battle opponents will be assigned by an <em>algorithm</em> that matches two fighters with similar total values. Once you are matched with another Caveman, both players will have a short period of time to prepare for battle. Both players can also view some information about their opponent, including their class and levels.</p>
<p><strong>Preparation</strong>: In this short period of time prior to battle, both players will have the opportunity to equip their Caveman with weapons and items that will be the most beneficial for the battle. Additionally, it’s during this preparation, that players can utilize their consumables and hire pets to help fight their opponent.</p>
<p><strong>Battle</strong>: During the battle, players will be able to control their movement and trigger some effects from their abilities. However, attacks are automated, and many ability effects will take place passively. This happens thanks to the RNG mechanics inside the game, which guarantee random, fair, and balanced fights.</p>
<p><strong>Outcome</strong>: The battle ends when a Caveman has reached 0 Hit Points, meaning they lost the battle. Both Cavemen receive experience points, but the winner will gain more, helping them get closer to leveling up. Additionally, winners have a small chance of receiving a valuable asset drop, instantly!</p>
<h3>Exploration Mode</h3>
<p>Instead of actively fighting in the Battle Arena, players have an alternative way of passively participating in TribeWars. In <em>Exploration</em> <em>Mode,</em> you<em> </em>can keep your Caveman occupied by locking/staking him, and sending him to explore! Cavemen will return from their explorations with various rewards, which players can use or <strong>sell</strong>. In summary, this allows you to farm your Caveman, and keep him from fighting during a period of time. Each exploration opportunity will happen in different areas and will be open for a limited amount of time. We aim for new explorations to be available quite often!</p>
